Background
Bob came to CDS in late 2005, after six years with one of the ‘Big Three’ international outplacement and consulting
firms, Right Management Consultants.
Prior to joining Right Management Consultants in 1999, Bob was at Phillips Petroleum Company, A Fortune 50 Oil
and Gas Company. He has a dual background in Information Technology Management and Corporate Human
Resources, Organization Development, Corporate Training, and Managerial and Executive Development. Bob also
has prior industry background in Retail Management.
In the past eight years in the outplacement and HR consulting arena Bob has:
- Managed an outplacement center for the individuals impacted in Tulsa by British Petroleum’s merger with
Amoco. Nearly 600 individuals overall, hourly and professional through executive, benefited from the use of
this center. - Worked with thousands of individuals at virtually all levels and industries via workshops, training classes, and
individual one/one meetings. His focus the past six years has been working with/coaching managers and senior
executives. - Worked with scores of HR managers of companies in the state, to help them plan and deal successfully with the
change needs and impact.
In Corporate Human Resources where Bob spent his last six years with Phillips Petroleum, he:
- Developed, planned, and managed the successful participant selection for and execution of several one-to sixweek managerial and executive development programs for targeted high potentials. These programs received
outstanding review/feedback. - Served as Deputy Leader of a worldwide team to completely reengineer the training process and offerings for
Hourly through Executive level needs. The plan and implemented results came to be considered a ‘best
practice’ in the industry. - Served on an international, company-wide, cross-functional task force charged with developing a strategy for
leveraging the use of Technology Assisted Training throughout the company. The resultant plan became the
platform for Phillips’ present high use of such technologies. - Developed and facilitated a company-wide New Hire Orientation, domestic and international, which provides
exposure to corporate culture, policies, and values, as well as exposure to Phillips’ CEO and top management. - Personally led a company-wide effort to develop online ‘Development Guides’ for job models and
competencies linked to Phillips’ Online 360 Degree Evaluation System. The guides provided immediate actions
that could be taken to address development needs after performance reviews. - Delivered a course called Investment in Excellence (dealing with change, and goal setting/growth) to various
corporate and field locations within Phillips. This course was very popular, becoming the highest requested
course in the company that year.
Bob holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Management/Computing Science from Southeastern Oklahoma State University,
where he was voted “Outstanding Management Student” by faculty his senior year. He served as Student Body
Vice-President, as well as President of the Management and Marketing Society, while working full-time through
school. Additionally, Bob completed the University of Tulsa’s abbreviated MBA program of strategic management
topics in 1999, and has taken a variety of other graduate management and marketing courses.
