Tom Clatfelter - Vice President

Tom joins Career Development Services bringing a wealth of Business experience with both major private and public
companies. Tom has served in Management in The Williams Companies, as subsidiary VP in Koch Industries, and most
recently as President of TEC Consulting. His “Real World” experience includes Engineering, Manufacturing, Business
Development, Acquisitions and Divestitures. He has over 8 years of consulting experience in areas such as HR Consulting, Executive Coaching, Selection, Organizational Development, Compensation, and Business Process, Risk and Controls.

Tom’s philosophy is that people are a company’s most important asset. Many companies state that as part of their values, but “Forward Thinking” companies implement people strategies that create value and actions that show the company walks the talk.

We are committed to partnering with organizations to:

Over Tom’s career he has:

  • Led the HR focus of a multi-million dollar acquisition with over 600 employees; the re-selection and integration
    process which resulted in over one third of the employees needing outplacement.
  • Applied Multi-rater feedback methodologies to align employees according to their comparative advantage.
  • Personally conducting training modules during New Employee Orientations that focused on company vision,
    mission and principles, philosophy of comparative advantage, and employee development.
  • Performed Executive coaching working with CEO’s and Executive’s to improve leadership effectiveness.
  • Coached leaders on a variety of talent strategies, e.g. retention, succession, development and application of
    compensation philosophy as tool to raise the bar of performance thru properly aligned incentives.
  • Contributed to the Behavior Based Selection process with focus areas to assess values and beliefs as well as skills
    and knowledge
  • Designed and implemented employee surveys and associated metrics to evaluate the effectiveness and profitability of HR products and services.

Tom received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and currently serves as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and is a Certified Crown Financial Budget Counselor.
